Ce film d\u00e9crit la lente d\u00e9rive d&rsquo;un couple qui, vu de l&rsquo;ext\u00e9rieur, avait pourtant \u00ab\u00a0tout pour \u00eatre heureux\u00a0\u00bb , comme on dit souvent (assez b\u00eatement, car quand on a vraiment \u00ab\u00a0tout pour \u00eatre heureux\u00a0\u00bb , eh bien on est heureux, voil\u00e0 tout; et si on n&rsquo;est pas heureux, c&rsquo;est qu&rsquo;il manque quelque chose d&rsquo;essentiel, ne serait-ce que la capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 profiter du bonheur).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parmi les reprises les plus connues de \u00ab\u00a0What are you doing for the rest of your life\u00a0\u00bb , on peut citer celles de Frank Sinatra, de Milt Jackson, de Sarah Vaughan, de Carmen McRae ou de Stacey Kent (et en dehors de l&rsquo;univers du jazz, celles de Barbra Streisand ou Sting).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mais apr\u00e8s les avoir toutes \u00e9cout\u00e9es, pour moi il est clair qu&rsquo;aucune n&rsquo;arrive \u00e0 la hauteur de cette version du Bill Evans trio: intense, fi\u00e9vreuse, \u00e0 fleur de peau, et pourtant a\u00e9rienne, elle est une invitation parfaite \u00e0 la m\u00e9ditation et \u00e0 l&rsquo;introspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce n&rsquo;est pas \u00e0 cela que Legrand et les Bergman pensaient quand il ont \u00e9crit ce morceau. En effet, dans le film de Richard Brooks, celui-ci est la supplique d&rsquo;un homme amoureux qui demande \u00e0 la femme qu&rsquo;il aime encore passionn\u00e9ment \u00ab\u00a0Qu&rsquo;est-ce qui a mal tourn\u00e9?\u00a0\u00bb , et qui esp\u00e8re que le reste de leurs vies se d\u00e9roulera en commun:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0I have only one request of your life:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That you spend it all with me<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All the seasons and the times of your days<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are the nickels and the dimes of your days<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let the reasons and the rhymes of your days<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All begin and end with me\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour ma part, j&rsquo;ai plut\u00f4t envie d&rsquo;interpr\u00e9ter le titre de \u00ab\u00a0What are you doing for the rest of your life\u00a0\u00bb comme une question que je me pose \u00e0 moi-m\u00eame. Que vais-je faire du temps qui me reste?
